It seems as if Christmas gets earlier and earlier each year? Or perhaps we get older and it springs up on us like a forgotten about exam. With a bit of planning and imagination, there are some great activities and things to do in Stellenbosch over the Christmas period. Just make sure to book and plan early as the town is very popular over the Christmas festive season. We have a couple of ideas for you:

Picnics

What better way to spend Christmas day than enjoying a picnic with family or friends. With the abundance of wine farms in and around the Stellenbosch area, you literally just have to pick one. Markets

Stellenbosch is known for its delectable selection of markets and the Christmas season is no different as the town comes alive with scrumptious treats and an array of Christmas goodies provided by Santa Claus himself. Here are some market ideas for December:

The Christmas Night Market at the Stellenbosch Slow market (6th and 7th of December 2013)

On December 6th the popular market comes complete with all the Christmas trimmings as shoppers pick up some of the finest treats and Christmas goodies. Favourites include fruit cakes, mince pies, gingerbread houses, a selection of champagnes, German bratwurst and Fynbos topiaries. Vintage Christmas music will set the mood as you browse the various stores in hope of filling up those Christmas stockings. The market presents the perfect opportunity to browse handmade goods by crafters, designers, artisans and local foodies.

The Blaauwklippen Twilight Christmas market (17th to 21st December 2013)

Classic European Christmas comes to the heart of the Cape Winelands this December. The fair invites you to pick out your own Christmas tree and try out the scores of fine festive fair. The day will feature a variety of gift and food stores with delectable items sure to stir up that Christmas feeling. Items on sale are sure to whet your appetite and include Christstollen, Pfefferkuchenhaus, gingerbread biscuits, fruitcakes, toffee apples and cinnamon pancakes.
